Winter Survival Skills

Survival Weekend3

Do you think you would be able to survive overnight in winter conditions? What if you had to build your own shelter and make a fire with only minimal gear? Where do you even begin?

This course is brought to you by Flexpeditions and lead by Scott Hicks, who has been an active Search and Rescue (SAR) member for over 20 years.

Survival is simple with the proper knowledge, equipment, practice and experience. This course is meant to provide you with a strong foundation of survival essentials to help you make confident decisions in challenging environmental conditions.

You will learn about proper site selection for shelter building and fire building and maintenance. Scott will teach you his tried and tested survival techniques that could make the difference.

This course is very flexible. You can either sign up for part of or the whole course. If you attend the entire course then you will gain the most benefit, learn the most and have the most fun!

On the Saturday night there is an option to stay overnight in the quinzhee. Once your bellies are filled by a winter cookout, you will enjoy an evening learning about winter night sky navigation and stories by the fire before retiring to your quinzhee.
